Heritage Lottery Fund

Young Roots

Young Roots offers grants of between £5,000 and £25,000. The scheme aims to involve 13-20 year-olds (up to 25 for those with special needs) in finding out about their heritage, developing skills, building confidence and promoting community involvement. Young Roots projects stem directly from young peoples' interests and ideas, harnessing their creativity and energy and helping them work with others in their local community.

Schools Art's Partnership

The aims of the Sky School Arts Partnership project are:

  • To build a lasting partnership between local schools, communities and a National Trust property. To promote cross community links between students and families of differing cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds.
  • To support the national curriculum and the wider social curriculum with interesting, relevant and enjoyable activities. To encourage a sense of ownership and appreciation of heritage/countryside properties by local communities. To build the skills and experience of National Trust staff and volunteers to support similar projects in the future.
  • To produce a legacy at the National Trust property and possibly at the schools as well. This could be anything from a sculpture to better skilled staff and volunteers to a new learning resource or a trail. Another important legacy of the project will be encouraging new audiences to the arts and heritage field.
